Today, the first international conference “Development of Medical Tourism in the Republic of Kazakhstan: Prospects and Opportunities” was held in Astana, bringing together more than 500 specialists from around the world — including ambassadors from 30 countries, representatives of the Ministry of Health, international organizations, leading experts, medical agents, and buyers from 13 countries.
Medical tourism is one of the strategic directions for the development of Kazakhstan’s healthcare sector.
The Ministry of Health has outlined the following steps to promote the growth of medical tourism:
Establishment of natural and medical clusters across the regions;
Development of specialized rehabilitation programs based on the country’s natural resources;
Promotion of Kazakhstan as an international hub for comprehensive medical and wellness tourism.
The next stage involves strengthening the role of regions and enhancing intersectoral coordination.
The medical tourism development roadmaps include measures to bring tourist facilities up to standard, identify promising directions, and create favorable conditions for investment.
This involves a comprehensive system of all necessary components — medical institutions, hotels, transport companies, travel agencies, as well as information and communication systems — to provide integrated services for foreign and domestic patients seeking medical care, rehabilitation, or wellness treatment within the regions and across the country.
The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with government bodies, local executive authorities, and the business community, stands ready to provide full support for the development of medical tourism.
