The baby's parents noticed the first signs of a tumor after expressed anxiety, decreased appetite, vomiting and headache. The girl's mother independently applied to the MGB No. 2 in Astana, where a CT scan of the brain was performed on the girl and revealed a voluminous formation of the chiasmal cellaric region with spread to the legs of the cerebellum.
Taking into account the severity of the child's condition and the localization of a giant tumor with endo-supra-infra laterosellar growth with germination into the left lateral ventricle, with prolapse into the third ventricle, with spread to the middle cranial fossa, into the maxillary angle on both sides with compression and deformation of the brain stem, it was decided at a consultation of doctors of JSC NCN to hospitalize the child is sent to the National Center of Neurosurgery for surgical treatment.
Neurosurgeons of the Department of Pediatric Neurosurgery performed a microsurgical operation to remove a giant brain tumor using a neuronavigation system. The complexity of the operation was due to the rather large size of the tumor (6,0*6,5*7,1 see), localized in functionally significant areas of the brain, which occupied almost half of the child's brain. There were possible complications and consequences associated with the course of the disease and surgical intervention: speech, motor disorders, hearing, respiratory, cardiovascular disorders, hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke.
The operation was performed by specialists in their field who have practical work experience of more than 15 years, namely: a neurosurgeon of the highest qualification category, head of the department of pediatric neurosurgery, professor of JSC NCN – Olenbai Gabit Ilyasovich and a neurosurgeon – Zharasov Alibek Maratovich, an anesthesiologist-resuscitator Dzhubaniyazov Bolatbek Tugelbaevich. The operation was carried out on a quota basis, within the framework of the OSMS.
The operation was successful. Now the baby feels satisfactory, has been discharged with improvement and transferred to the National Research Center for Motherhood and Childhood for further treatment.
