October marks the beginning of World Breast Cancer Month, which was declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1993. Every year on October 15, World Breast Cancer Day is celebrated in 44 countries around the world.
The international symbol of the fight against breast cancer is the pink ribbon.
One of the creators of the symbolic pink ribbon is Evelyn Lauder, who held the post of senior vice president of the Estée Lauder Corporation in 1992. Since then, the brand has participated in Pink October events every year and regularly donates a portion of its proceeds to charities and organizations involved in breast cancer research.
The whole world is painted pink so that every woman knows about the need to undergo regular examinations, and those who are faced with the disease receive support.
Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among women, with an incidence rate of 99.4 per 100,000 women aged 13 to 90 years. The risk of developing pathologies increases with age, the majority of patients (77%) are over 50 years old, young girls account for 0.3%.

In the Republic of Kazakhstan, the “National Screening for Women” program for the early detection of breast cancer has been carried out for more than 10 years. As part of the screening, women aged 40-70 years have the right to undergo a FREE mammography of both mammary glands in two projections once every 2 years.
All images undergo double reading: the first reading is carried out by a radiologist in the mammography room of the clinic (or mobile medical complex). The second reading is performed by a radiologist in the mammography room of the cancer center.
If necessary, women undergo additional diagnostics: targeted mammography, ultrasound of the mammary glands, trephine biopsy.
