Kazakhstan was the first among the CIS countries to introduce the latest technology for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. UMC Heart Center specialists have successfully implemented Farapulse electropulse ablation, an advanced technique for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, which is used in leading clinics around the world. The technology is characterized by high safety and efficiency, and the recovery time of patients after the procedure is reduced to 1-2 days.
The master class on the application of the new technology was conducted by the world-famous cardiologist, Professor Serge Boveda from the French clinic Clinique Pasteur, who is also the secretary of the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA).
"The procedure is minimally invasive – a catheter is inserted through the femoral vein and directed to the heart, where it affects only pathological tissues with the help of electroporation. The whole process takes no more than an hour, and patients can return to normal life in a couple of days," the professor said.
Farapulse technology has been introduced in Kazakhstan for the first time among the CIS and Central Asian countries. It is used when atrial fibrillation appears in patients – a rapid and irregular contraction of the upper chambers of the heart. The specialists of the UMC Heart Center performed 8 procedures during the master class, under the guidance of Dr. Boveda.
"The technology allows you to target arrhythmia zones without affecting healthy tissues, which makes treatment as safe as possible for the patient," said Omirbek Nuralinov, head of the Department of Interventional Arrhythmology at the UMC Heart Center.
The introduction of this technology is especially important because cardiovascular diseases remain one of the main causes of death in the world.
"In Kazakhstan, about 1,000 patients annually need treatment for atrial fibrillation, and thanks to the state quota they will be able to receive this high–tech care for free," said Yuri Pya, Chairman of the UMC Board.
