National Interventional Conference (NIC) - one of the largest International conferences in the field of interventional cardiology was held in India from July 5-7. The event is organized by the Cardiology Society of India, which unites more than 12,000 participants. The main topics covered innovations in percutaneous coronary interventions, the latest advances in treatment and patient care, as well as ensuring safety at all stages of therapy.

During the conference, 20 online demonstrations of Live case procedures from around the world were delivered, among which Kazakhstan was represented by the Heart Center UMC team. This invitation indicates the recognition of the high level of UMC clinics at the international level and the credibility from foreign colleagues. During the broadcast, the clinic’s patient underwent a procedure on installation of an innovative bifurcation stent. This stent is implanted in atherosclerosis of the coronary artery, which in turn splits in two. Implantation of a bifurcation stent makes it possible to effectively and safely restore blood flow at the sites of arterial separation.

Practical trainings, thematic symposiums on structural diseases of the cardiovascular system, debates, lectures on various complications and current technologies were held at the conference. Among the 1000 participants were international experts who arrived from more than 20 countries, including the USA, Germany, Japan, Canada, Turkey, and Spain.

It is worth noting that earlier Heart Center UMC specialists visited clinics in India to conduct a master class on transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). Also, more than 60 interventional cardiologists from different regions of India have been successfully trained on the basis of UMC to learn skills and gain experience. Close cooperation between the countries continues to strengthen and creates opportunities for sharing knowledge and improvement of medical care.
