On June 28, 2024, the University Medical Center hosted the Republican Conference "Extragenital Pathology and Pregnancy", which was held with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan and is included in the plan of scientific and practical conferences for 2024. The Conference was attended by leading scientists, doctors and experts of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The group of extragenital pathologies includes diseases of a therapeutic, surgical and infectious nature that are not associated with a violation of the reproductive system. The most common extragenital diseases include:
hypertension,
heart defects,
hypotension,
varicose veins,
appendicitis,
rheumatism,
anemia,
pulmonary tuberculosis.
In general, all these diseases can occur in a woman before pregnancy in a chronic, asymptomatic form. However, a change in the hormonal background caused by pregnancy causes a lot of complications in patients, which can become an obstacle to the natural process of childbirth.
This conference has created a platform for communication and exchange of experience among specialists of obstetricians and gynecologists, cardiologists, hepatologists, internists, general practitioners, surgeons, health care organizers and other specialized specialists. As noted by the director of the Women's Health Department Gauri Bapayeva: "So, according to the Ministry of Health, as the cause of maternal mortality, EGZ accounted for almost 2/3 of all deaths in the Republic of Kazakhstan during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. The current situation is largely due to the imperfection of prevention, as well as untimely diagnosis and, as a result, insufficient effectiveness of treatment. Only the principle of a multidisciplinary approach to the management of pregnant women with extragenital pathology is to choose the optimal management and delivery tactics for pregnant women and improve outcomes for both mother and newborn. I hope that the discussion of these pressing problems and new trends in diagnosis and treatment by the conference participants will be useful in further joint work."
The scientific program of the conference covered such issues as the organization of medical and social assistance to pregnant women, women in labor and maternity with extragenital pathology, the organization of medical care for pregnant women with chronic heart failure, tactics of pregnancy and childbirth in endocrine diseases, pregnancy and childbirth in liver diseases, kidney and urinary tract diseases and pregnancy, modern approaches to pregnancy management and childbirth in diseases. At the end of the conference, there was an active discussion on current topics.
