Medical tourism is actively developing in Kazakhstan. Since the beginning of the year, three thousand people have come to the republic for treatment. This is twice as much as a year earlier.
To have an operation in Kazakhstan, foreigners buy special medical vouchers. These include choosing a clinic and doctor, online consultation on tests, transfer and hotel accommodation. If the operation is simple, the patient will be given excursions around the city and introduced to local traditions.
Kristina Krivets, President of the Kazakhstan Medical Tourism Association:
“Last year there were more than five thousand tourists. This year we cannot yet say exactly how much, but we are already seeing an increase compared to the past six months. We are also affected by everything that happens in the world. And if before this some countries were more popular than us, now Kazakhstan is entering the arena, it is on the leading flank.”
People mainly come to Kazakhstan for treatment from neighboring countries. The influx of patients from Germany, the USA, Israel, the Emirates and Switzerland is gradually growing. The most popular areas of medical tourism are neuro- and cardiac surgery, perinatal medicine, neurology and dentistry.
